FAQ

My dog escapes harnesses. Will he get out of this one?

Most harness escapes are a fit problem rather than a hardware problem: the dog backs up, the chest strap slides forward over the shoulders and he steps out. This one adjusts at four separate points, so once it is set to his actual measurements there is much less slack to reverse out of. What we will not tell you is that it is escape-proof, because no harness is, and anyone who prints that word is selling you a feeling. If your dog is a determined reverse-artist, clip the leash to the chest ring and run a short second lead to his flat collar as a backup. That is what trainers do.

My dog hates anything going over his head.

Fair, and we would rather say this up front than let you find out on the doorstep: this is an over-the-head vest, not a step-in. What makes it easier than most is that both side buckles, at the neck and at the chest, come undone. So you can open the neck side, lower the harness onto him instead of pushing it down over his face, and buckle it while he is looking at you rather than at the thing coming at him. Do the first few fittings indoors where he eats, and hand him something good the second it clicks. Plenty of dogs settle into it quickly. Some take longer, and a few never love that part.

Does it stop the pulling on its own?

No, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What the front ring does is mechanical: it moves where the leash pressure lands, so a pull turns him instead of driving him forward. Most owners feel that difference on the first walk. What it does not do is change what he wants. It gives you a walk you can physically hold, which is the thing that makes the training possible. A harness advertised as fixing pulling by itself is overselling a piece of webbing.

How do I pick a size, and what happens if I get it wrong?

Measure his chest girth, just behind the front legs, at the widest point, and match that number to the chart above. Use the tape, not the breed. If you land between two sizes, take the bigger one: it adjusts inward at four points and it cannot be let out. And if it still comes out wrong, message us with the measurement and we ship the right size free. You keep the first one, there is nothing to send back and no window to beat.

How do I wash it?

Hand wash in cool water with a mild soap, rinse it thoroughly, and air dry it out of direct sun. No tumble dryer, no bleach, no iron. For everyday mud a damp cloth does the job. We are deliberately giving you the cautious instruction: the maker does not publish a machine-wash rating for this harness, and we would rather under-promise on care than have a chest plate come out of a hot wash misshapen.

Can I use it on a puppy?

If he measures into size S, yes. Two things to know. First, a puppy's chest can change a great deal in a few months, so you may be buying a second one later in the year, and that is not a defect, that is a growing dog. If he is near the top of a size range and still growing, size up and take the straps in. Second, a puppy who has never worn a harness needs a few calm sessions of putting it on and taking it off indoors before it goes anywhere near a leash and a front door.

My dog is big and strong. Is this enough harness for him?

Straight answer, with the limits printed on it. It is a padded vest in polyester and nylon webbing, with two side-release buckles and a chest ring, specified by the maker for daily walking, with the instruction to avoid extreme pulling and sudden forceful tugs. We do not publish a breaking strain, because no test to a standard we could cite exists for this unit. For a 90 lb dog on an ordinary walk who leans hard into the lead, this is the right tool, and the front ring is exactly the thing you are missing. For a dog who launches, or for anything involving a stake, a zipline or a tie-out, it is not, and you should not use it that way.

What if I just do not like it?

Ninety days from the day it lands on your doorstep. If it does not fit, if it does not change your walks, if your dog simply will not have it, message us and you get your money back. You do not need to ship a used harness back across the country and we do not want you to. Used is fine, muddy is fine, his name on the strap in marker is fine. Size exchanges are separate and free: the right size goes out and you keep the one you have.

Where is the full size chart?

S covers a 19.3 to 25.2 in chest, M covers 21.7 to 28.0 in, L covers 26.0 to 35.0 in and XL covers 30.7 to 39.8 in. The full chart with neck girth and weight guides, the measuring steps and the strap setup are in our fit and sizing guide.

Do the bigger sizes cost more?

No. $49.90 for every size and every color. A big dog already has the harder walk, he does not also get the bigger bill.

What is the Harness and Leash Set?

The same harness plus a matching 5 ft leash in the same color, for $69.90. Shipping is free at that price, so against a single harness at $49.90 plus $4.95 shipping the leash adds $15.05. We do not sell the leash on its own, so we do not quote a saving against a price we never charge.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

We prepare orders in 1 to 3 business days, then most parcels reach US addresses in 5 to 11 days, so most orders arrive 6 to 14 days after you order. Shipping is $4.95 on orders under $65 and free at $65 or more, so the set always ships free. See Shipping.

Why do I not see a big review count?

Because we only show reviews from real customers, collected after delivery through one review app. The number you see is the live count, the same everywhere on the site. Until real customers leave reviews, we show none rather than borrow a number from somewhere.

Do you have discount codes?

We do not run a sale every day. When we do run a promotion, it has a real end date, and links in our ads and emails apply the discount for you automatically.

Where is it made?

In China, by a third-party manufacturer, and shipped by our supplier. More on our Receipts page.

How do I contact you?
